Alamance County is located in central North Carolina and is the home of Burlington, Mebane, Snow Camp, Haw River, Graham, Gibsonville, Elon, and Burlington. The Sissipahaw Indians were the original residents, and European settlers came following their original trading paths in the 1600s. The county was named after the native american word mud, based off of the Alamance Creek.
The 2013 census holds the population at 154,000, with an unemployment rate of 4.7%. Waterways within the city include the Haw River, Beaver Creek, Lick Creek, and many more. You will also see that Interstate 40 cuts through the country, with highways 62, 49, 87, 54, and 70 branching across the state.
