Burch Avenue is a National Register Historic District located south of downtown Durham, just south of the Durham Freeway. The neighborhood was developed during the early to mid 20th century. Burch Avenue features smaller homes in a variety of styles including Victorian, Colonial Revival, and Craftsman.
The neighborhood is conveniently located near downtown Durham and Duke's East and West Campuses. Burch Avenue is less than a mile south of Duke's East Campus, as well as the various restaurants, bars, and shops in the area on Ninth Street and Broad Street. Also less than a mile away is the Brightleaf District of downtown Durham. Burch Avenue is also home to the Durham Co-Op Market, a popular cooperatively owned grocery store and cafe.
